Based on a study of 15,000 machine years, the mean time between
failures (MBTF) for a system, which has had annual preventive
maintenance, is four years.
Sufficient standoff distances to allow operator access to the line and ease of thread-up.
Typical standoff distances, for the closest system component is at least
200 mm.
Ease of upgrading.
DFT systems are designed for modularity. Many upgrades can be
provided in the field for optics, electronics and software.
Modem diagnostics.
System may be accessed by DFT facilities/personnel anywhere in the
world.
Installation, Application and Training program, on-site.
All systems are supported during installation and commissioning by a
team of DFT engineers, working on site. Operator training is performed
at that time.

Low power requirements.
System is operated from a single 110 volt, 20-amp outlet.
Low operating costs.
Wear items are the laser (typical life 3-4 years), PMT (typical life 2-4
years) and polygon (typical life 4-5 years). Based upon an exchange
program, the annualized cost of these replacements start at under
$10,000. As the power draw is very low (10 amps), the electricity costs
are negligible compared to other systems.
System integration with existing process control.

Simple calibration/verification.
Standard targets are supplied. In addition, the system includes a defect
simulation package to allow checking of the electronics and software.
