Haze Measurement

Haze is a critical parameter in the control of coating processes.  Traditional haze measurements are performed off-line, by lab instruments which conform to the ASTM Haze Measurement Standard #D1003.  While accurate, these off-line tools do not provide the 100%, on-line, real-time feedback necessary in today's manufacturing environment.  Manufacturers are forced to make global quality judgements based on an insignificant amount of product.  Good product can be rejected, and bad product can ship to customers.

Dark Field Technologies has developed a revolutionary means to measure these haze levels, on-line, in real-time, 100%.  The Dark Field NxtGen Haze system generates a "haze map" for sheet and float glass ribbon.  Should the control limits be breached, the deviant area of the product is displayed, and the system generates an alarm.  The haze map is stored in a data base for recall and the map can be integrated with downstream systems to ensure that only good product is shipped from the plant.

Unique NxtGen Haze Features and Benefits:

  • Haze map.
  • Two inspection regions; Active area and non-inspect zones.
  • Reject sheet and alarm outputs.
  • Windows 7.0 operation (avoid Linux interface problems).
