Glass Inspection and Washer Residue

Solar panel producers add tremendous value to glass; it is imperative to ensure that the incoming glass is free from glass and TCO defects, cracks, chips and washer residue. Glass defects, from the float process (bubbles, seeds, stones, etc. and subsequent cutting/handling, can cause interference with laser scribing operations and panel integrity (cracks, clamshells, broken corners, etc.).

NxtGen systems employ proprietary bright field, dark field and mixed field optics. These systems are unique to Dark Field Technologies. Patent pending laser, camera and hybrid laser/camera technologies include

  • Self-aligning optical systems: Scanners house the active optics; completely self-aligning – all active components are ABOVE the process line.
  • Variable field scanners: Multiple degree of freedom systems. Simple optical adjustments allow the user to move between bright field, mixed field and dark field, with a single optical system.
